CELEBRITY single mom and book author Bettina Carlos has brought in her debut book, "Heartbreaks & Breakthroughs: Making Sense of God's Purposes for Pain," in Cagayan de Oro City as OMF Literature relaunched its bookshop at Centrio Ayala Mall last Friday, November 22.
Heartbreaks & Breakthroughs shows the theme of forgiveness and single parenting through the Bettina's testimonies about her experience of heartbreaks and breakthroughs in life.
"I wrote the book for everyone who has a heart and everyone who is asking why," said Bettina, who was in Cagayan de Oro City for the road tour of her debut book.
"I write it with hopes that through the book, that they will see that even if they don't know exactly why but in the process of searching and seeking, they will find the who who is in control, who sovereigns, who loves them, who only wants what is good for them," she added.
Heartbreaks & Breakthroughs, according to Bettina, is not only for single moms, but the book will also be useful to any person of any gender.
"I don't think it separates gender. I like to believe that we all always have something to learn if we will just be open to how the Lord maybe speaking to us," she said.
Bettina worked on the book for six months. She shared that Heartbreaks & Breakthroughs was supposed to be her second book as she planned to have her debut book to be a devotional book.
"Yung plans ni God yung nag prevail, nauna si book number two. So book number one, na magiging two na, will either be the devo (devotional book) or a cookbook devotional," Bettina said.
Creating the book, Bettina said, is one of the challenging things she did as she had to do a lot of introspection and a careful and thorough checking of her heart.
"I had to relieve past experiences and unearth buried emotions. I see now how the Lord, in His sovereignty, brought me to breaking points in my life and caused my circumstances to be the way they are," Bettina said.
"I understand now how He delivered me from those heartbreaks in order to break through my life," she added.
Her message to everyone going through heartbreaks: "You know that God knows what He's doing because God made you, He knows you well enough and He loves you most."
"Submit to God's will."
Cagayan de Oro City is the first stop of Bettina's road tour of her book. Heartbreaks & Breakthroughs can be bought at P250 in OMF Lit Bookshop (formerly Passages) located at the third floor of Centrio Ayala Mall.
