Exciting MPBL matches on November 29 in El Salvador

THE nationwide Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) will take center stage in this northern part of Mindanao.

This, as MPBL Lakan Cup 2019 unveils a double-header matches at the newly refurbished El Salvador Gymnasium in El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental on Friday, November 29, as part of its exciting out-of-town games.

South division leader Davao Occidental Tigers go against Imus Bandera in the opener at 7 p.m. before the money's worth top attraction between North division frontrunner San Juan Knights opposite the equally-strong Manila Stars.

The Tigers hold the South division lead with an 18-3 win-loss record, followed by the Bacoor City Strikers at 18-5.

The San Juan Knights, reigning Datu Cup champion, just pulled their fifth-straight win via a narrow 88-86 squeaker over Makati City on Monday and tightened their grip of the North division's upperhand with 20 wins and two losses inflicted by General Santos Warriors and Batangas Risers.

The Stars are currently at third place with 17-4 in striking distance of second placer Makati Super Crunch at 18-4.

"It's gonna be an exciting matches especially in the main event on Friday. This is a promotion of MPBL as part of the league's official games on the road and a baptism of fire for our city gym," said El Salvador sports director Rey Dangcal.

Cagayan de Oro native Carlo Lastimosa will see action for the Stars in the company of former PBA fellows Gabby Espinas and Mac Tallo.

UAAP stalwart Renzo Subido of the University of Santo Tomas will reportedly join forces with ex-pros Mac Cardona, John Wilson and Larry Rodriguez for the San Juan Knights' cause.

Meanwhile, Imus Bandera will have 2008-2009 PBA Season MVP Jayjay Helterbrand and actor Gerald Anderson against Mark Yee and the Davao Occidental Tigers.
