38 companies join 1-day jobs fair for urban poor

JOB seekers will get a chance to apply for jobs during the one-day Urban Poor Solidarity Week Jobs Fair in Cebu Coliseum on Monday, Dec. 2, 2019.

Arlene Tudtud, information officer of the Philippine Commission for the Urban Poor, said they are organizing a one-day local and overseas job fair in line with their 30th Urban Poor solidarity week celebration from Dec. 2 to 8.

“We are expecting 2,500 applicants on Dec. 2. It is open for both high school and college graduates,” she said.

The available jobs are in the fields of sales, marketing, production, housekeeping, customer service, call center, restaurant and insurance.

“They just have to bring their credentials, PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority)-issued birth certificate, resume and certifications for skills training,” Tudtud said.

A total of 38 companies--28 local and 10 overseas--will participate in the one-day jobs fair.

Government agencies such as Bureau of Internal Revenue, Social Security System (SSS), Technical Skills and Development Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, among others, will also be present and will be providing services to job applicants.

State-run Pag-ibig Fund will cater to first-time registrants and process renewals of multi-purpose loans.

The Philippine Health Insurance Corp. will also accept submissions of Philheath member registration forms and inquiries.

Applicants whose forms are submitted during the fair will be prioritized when they obtain their Pag-ibig number and ID processing at the agency’s office.

The SSS will also provide inquiry services and a Unified Multi-Purpose ID processing to pre-registered applicants. (WBS)
