Zamboanga fire station gets new building

AN P82 million four-storey building is set to be constructed to house the headquarters of the Zamboanga City Fire District (ZCFD) as well as the regional headquarters of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP).

Chief Inspector Jacqueline Ortega, city fire marshal, said the BFP has initially allocated P50 million to start the first phase construction of the four-storey edifice.

Ortega said they have already requested the city government to allot them a temporary relocation site to pave way for the demolition of the old building and construction of the new building.

She said the construction of the new building is scheduled to start in January, 2020 and is set to be completed within two years.

She said they can be temporarily relocated either to the Mayor Joaquin Enriquez Memorial Sports Complex or at the compound of the City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office.

She said the release of the funds was made possible through the effort of Superintendent Juhfel BraƱanola, the former city fire marshal. (SunStar Philippines)
