POLICE arrested a former police officer and two other women in a drug bust in Iligan City on Wednesday, November 27.
The drug suspects were identified as Melody Artiaga, 33, resident of barangay Ubaldo, and a former police officer; Catherine Taba, 33, of barangay Saray and Eva Rivelo, 33, of Barangay Tambacan.
Investigators learned that Artiaga was dismissed from service for absences without filing leave (AWOL). She was assigned in Bangsamoro Autonomous Region of Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
Major Abogado Mautin Jr, Station Commander of Iligan City Police Station 4, said the target of the operation was only Taba but Rivelo and Artiaga suddenly arrived at the area on board a motorcycle, and was able to purchase methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as “shabu,” from the target.
Confiscated from the target suspect were a total of six sachets of suspected shabu while another sachet was confiscated from Artiaga which she bought from Taba.
The three suspects will face charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
