Tay Tung eyes top spot in Rebisco V-League Pool B

BACOLOD Tay Tung High School Thunderbolts are eyeing to take the top spot of Pool B in the ongoing Rebisco Volleyball League National Championships played at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City.

The Bacolod-based team remains undefeated in the tournament after a 26-24, 25-19 victory over Team Sibu from Sarawak, Malaysia on Wednesday.

Skipper Shane Carmona alongside veteran Alyssa Bertolano, Kiesha Dazzie Bedonia, Joan Monares, and Katherine Shaine Cortez anchored the Tay Tung’s dominating performance. Despite having a tough first set against their Malaysian counterparts, the Visayas champions secured a set advantage.

With both teams tied at 24-all, Bertolano and Bedonia successfully blocked Sibu’s attack from the middle to take a 25-24 lead. The Malaysians have the opportunity to extend the game with one solid attack deep left of the court but, the attempt was well-defended. Katherine Shaine Cortez orchestrated the offensive play for Tay Tung starting with Carmona at the left then Bertolano at the opposite to seal the win as they successfully took full control of the second set.

As of Thursday, November 28, the Ian Macariola-squad is playing against fellow undefeated Hawaii of the USA for the top position in the group.

For Pool A, 3BB Nakornnont of Thailand leads the group with 4-0 card followed by Adamson University with 4 wins and a loss.
