4 men nabbed for ‘killing’ colleague in drug trade

A MURDERED man who was found buried in Barangay Lagtang, Talisay City, Cebu on Monday night, Nov. 25, 2019, was allegedly robbed and killed by his cohorts in the illegal drug trade.

This was revealed by Talisay City Police Chief Gerard Ace Pelare, who said they arrested four of the five persons responsible for the death of Juniel Amamangpang Cabiluna.

The suspects were identified as Jener Abellana Bacus, Xavier Jason Cabier, Arwen Calinawan and Rommel Bababo.

Bacus and Cabier were arrested in separate drug busts in the city last Wednesday, Nov. 27. The personnel of Talisay City Police Station and team members of the Provincial Mobile Force Company conducted the operations.

Some P60,000 worth of illegal drugs was seized from Bacus and Cabier. Also an unlicensed firearm was confiscated from Cabier.

Police pursued and caught Bababo and Calinawan after they were identified.

Pelare said they are looking for the last suspect, whom he identified as Christopher Anyol.

He said the suspects were identified by a witness who happened to pass by the area where Cabiluna was killed.

Cabiluna was reportedly a new drug trader in the city, according to Pelare.

The five suspects reportedly asked the victim for free illegal drugs. They later killed him after Cabiluna refused.

Bacus denied killing Cabiluna. Instead, he tagged Anyol as the killer. Other suspects refused to be interviewed.

Police are now investigating what group these suspects are part of. Pelare said the suspects also worked as guns for hire, killing the pushers of other drug groups. (FMD, RSR)
