Lourdes releases debut album 'Ruin The Party'

A PINCH of pain, a dash of doubt, then topped off with a jigger of joy—only a talented singer-songwriter can mix these elements together and come up with an 11-track concoction ready to spice up parties around town.

“Ruin The Party,” recorded, mixed and mastered at Room Eleven Recording Studio, boasts of RnB, hip hop and neo-soul vibes. It will be released under 22 Tango Records. All tracks were produced by Cattski Espina.

For Lourdes, she’s excited for everyone to hear the message she wants to share through the record.

“The songs in the album are all my truths. Every song is a big part of me. It takes a lot of vulnerability.”

Meet Lourdes — 22 Tango Records’ resident RnB queen — who’s releasing her debut album “Ruin The Party” November 30, Saturday. That’s right, when the clock strikes 12 midnight, one should head on to his or her favorite digital streaming platform and check out the new record. Also later that night, check out the album launch happening at Draft Punk Brewers & Skewers at Mango Square Mall, Gen. Maxilom Ave., Cebu City. The party starts 8 p.m. and also features artists Alice Who, Sepia Times and Wonggoys, all supporting Lourdes.

Lourdes was signed under 22 Tango Records back in 2015. “After that, it was years of getting to know my voice and how I am as a singer-songwriter,” she shared.

“This album thing didn’t just pop out of nowhere. It was four years of me learning to be more comfortable with performing; Being one with my truth when it comes to songwriting. The process of songwriting really evolved over the years. Before, I was very technical with the training I had. It was fixed and measured. But the longer I wrote and learned more about myself, the songs just came out naturally,” the artist, 23, shared. She started writing songs when she was only 14 years old.

The album is not without its surprises.“One song features five other artists who are really good friends of mine. It’s like, our anthem, and it’s called ‘Start a Fire’ featuring Kurt Fick, Jacky Chang, Vincent Eco, Kyle Wong and Jerika Teodorico,” Lourdes said.

“[The album is] very unapologetic. It’s empowering. It speaks truths. I just want the message out there about empowering everyone — not just women — but everyone; equality, in a sense.
