Pineda: Gayak at Piblas exhibit at Robinsons Angeles

THE 2019 Sinukwan Festival’s Gayak at Piblas Exhibit was recently launch at the ground level of Robinsons Angeles.

The exhibit features the designs of fashion designer Rich T. Sabinian.

In one of Sabinian’s masterpiece, he incorporated three basic elements representing the three theological virtues which are:

Fe (Faith in God) is the head piece made of pinukpok from Beti, Guagua. A brass metal used to make crowns for the heads of saints.

Esperanza (hope), is embodied in the white fabric knitted using a traditional kapampangan furniture weaving pattern called “silohiya”, accented with pinukpok (metal carvings) from Apalit, pampanga.

The use of “silohiya” pays tribute to the great kapampangan furniture makers that includes Rich’s father.

Caridad (Charity), is represented by the Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDL) resident basket weavers of the BJMP Angeles District Jail Male Dorm who gave their labor of love in weaving the fabric of this gown using their bare, skillful hands.

Intricate and classic, this modern Filipiniana gown proudly speaks of the rich culture and heritage of Pampanga, with all its elements coming together in balance, radiating the immaculate beauty of the Virgin who is the patron of the province of Pampanga and is a symbol of light and hope.

Also present during the exhibit were: Angeles City Mayor Carmelo Lazatin, Jr., Angeles City Councilor Pogs Suller, Angeles City Councilor Marino Banola, RLC regional operations manager Ms. Jodee Paulette Arroyo, Robinsons Angeles mall manager Ms. Lei Estaris-Belmonte, FLK executive vice president Dr. Lourdes Javier and lawyer Noy Santiago.
