MAYOR Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman of Isabela City, Basilan has released over P2.2 million development assistance funds to all the villages in the city.
Hataman said each of the 45 villages received on Thursday, November 28, P50,000 in check to purchase office supplies and equipment, as well as Christmas decorations, as the yuletide season approaches.
To spice up the celebration of the yuletide season and to boost the tourism industry of Isabela City, Hataman said the 45 villages will compete for the most beautiful Christmas decorations.
She said there will also be a simultaneous switch-on of all Christmas lights and other electrical decorations on December 5 for the villages within the seven-kilometer radius.
The illages outside the seven-kilometer radius, including those in the islands, are also encouraged to join the activity, she added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
