Admin cops to patrol Mandaue City streets

THE Mandaue City Police Office (MCPO) personnel who mainly render clerical duties will spend two hours to patrol the city during the holidays.

MCPO Director Jonathan Abella said he will deploy majority of his personnel, including those with administrative positions, to the streets as he wants to ensure the safety of the public.

At the MCPO, there are two 12-hour work shifts every day. It has 452 police personnel and 33 civilian employees.

When Christmas draws near, the MCPO expects an influx of visitors in the city. Most of them would often flock to malls, markets and other places that offer entertainment at night.

Abella said he has ordered the lower units to continue conducting checkpoints.

He also instructed his personnel to also check malls, banks and money changer booths.

During the dawn masses before Christmas Day, police stations will put up assistance desks at the churches. Tanods will be tapped to assist the police. (KFD)
