Philippine Christmas Festival 2019 kicks off in Tokyo today

THE annual staging of the Philippine Christmas Festival 2019 kicks off Saturday in Yoyogi Park, Tokyo, Japan.

The two-day affair showcases to the Japanese community how Filipinos commemorate Christmas in their country through the “Pasko ng Bayan.”

Jenavilla Bibal Shigemizu, chairperson of the Philippine Festival Organizing Committee 2019, Philippine Festival Organizing Committee vice chairman John Lyzander Zynampan, Judie A. Alvaran, sponsorship director of (PFOC), Eleanor A. Fukuda, PFOC treasurer and founding president of the Organization for the Development and Advancement of Negros in Japan (ODAN-J) will welcome delegates, tourists, guests from various regions and provinces in the country.

This is the first ever Christmas festival that will be held in this year’s edition, anchored on a theme “Pasko ng Bayan”.

This is their 8th year of staging the annual festival.

“We will show to the Japanese community the most important occasion in the Philippines which is Christmas,” she said.

They are expecting a huge crowd of 100,000 Japanese-Filipinos, tourists, and guests.

The Filipinos here are excited to eat Puto Bong Bong, Bibingka, and a lot of Filipino delicacies.

Filipino artists like Yeng Constantino, Arnel Ignacio, Ronnie Liang, Bless4 Musical Ensemble, Mr. Joaquin, the new K-Pop generation and other local artists will be gracing the event.

The Mangahan festival of Guimaras will perform during the festival.
