No classes in Pampanga during SEA Games

CLASSES in all levels in both private and public schools in Pampanga are suspended from December 4 to 10 in line with the country's hosting of the 30th Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Governor Dennis Pineda signed the executive order in response to the Department of the Interior and Local Government's Memorandum Circular No. 2019-198 which enjoined local government units to suspend classes on dates coinciding with the competition scheduled in their areas.

Several convention centers in the province are hosting events during the biennial regional meet: judo, jujitsu and kurash at LausGroup Event Centre, City of San Fernando; arnis, sambo and wrestling at the Angeles University Foundation; wakeboarding and water skiing at Deca Clark Wakepark, Barangay Malabanias; shooting at Pradera Verde in Lubao town; rugby sevens and archery at the Clark Parade Grounds; Lawn Bowls, Petanque and Obstacle Course at Clark Global City; dancesports at Royce Hotel and Casino; and baseball and softball at The Villages Clark Freeport, among others.

The events are expected to disrupt classes due to the volume of traffic and influx of people from all over the country and Southeast Asian Region, Pineda noted in his executive order.

He said that the suspension of classes will also enable the youth to participate in the historic event and support the Filipino athletes competing during the event.

The SEA Games officially kicked off last Saturday, November 30, and will conclude on December 11.
