Araneta gets new mandate as PFF chief

MARIANO “Nonong” Araneta earned a new mandate as president of the Philippine Football Federation on Friday, November 29, 2019, after prevailing over Negros Occidental Football Association (NOFA) president Ricky Yanson, 23-12, during the election coinciding with 16th PFF Congress at Century Park Hotel in Manila.

Reports said that Araneta admitted that the toughest part of the campaign was the attack on his character. But, the reelected president stressed that most members believed his ability, and trusted him of another four-year term.

Meanwhile, Yanson in his letter, graciously acknowledged the victory of Araneta and sincerely wished him well as the new PFF president.

“I would like to thank my wife, my daughter, my family, my campaign team and all of my supporters for their unwavering dedication to our cause. Not once did they give up,” he stated.

“Indeed, life goes on for me. I will continue to help Philippine Football through the ‘Football Para Sa Lahat’ advocacy. I will continue the programs we’ve begun in Negros Occidental and will wholeheartedly partner with PFF in endeavors just like NOFA has done in the past,” he added.

“Life goes on. Nothing will change my love for the beautiful game,” he added.
