THE Eagles completed a sweep of the elimination round in the Elite Basketball Club Cebu Season 16 after it nipped the Wolves, 41-39, at the Visayan Glass gym in Guadalupe last Saturday, November 30, 2019.

The win gave the Eagles its seventh win in as many games, giving them the top seed heading to the playoffs, which starts this weekend at the same venue.

Jherjacz Jaca led the way for the Eagles in the low-scoring affair with a near double-double performance of 10 points and nine rebounds.

In other games, the Raptors upended the Hawks, 80 -68, as Talisay City mayor, Gerald Anthony “Samsam” Gullas, asserted himself with 21 points, five rebounds, three assists and two steals. RJ Acha also performed well as he had 20 markers to help boost the Raptors to a 4-3 (win-loss) card.

The Tigers also edged the Rams, 88-86, thanks to Jojie Bas’ 34-point, five-rebound, four-assists explosion. John Cabahug also helped out with his 25 points. The win was only the second for the Tigers in this tournament.

The playoff picture would see the Eagles take on the Hawks while the Sharks will battle the Tigers.

The Raptors would then face off against the Scorpions while the Rams duke it out against the Wolves. All games are knockout affairs.(SunStar Cebu)
