CEBU’S first amusement park is expected to draw in more visitors to the southern municipality of Minglanilla.

Cebu has joined the amusement tourism bandwagon, as homegrown company Belmont Group officially opened Anjo World on Nov. 30, 2019.

Located at the Belmont One Commercial Complex in Barangay Calajoan, Minglanilla, Anjo World is showcasing all of its 12 thrilling rides, food stalls and other activity areas, a development that’s changing Cebu’s tourism landscape.

“We want Anjo World to be the new family destination in Cebu this Christmas and the whole year-round. We are changing the tourism landscape by offering a unique and different kind of experience for local families. It is also an added attraction to foreign guests,” said Belmont Group president Chester Lim.

Anjo World is the first amusement park of its kind in Cebu. Their rides are imported from accredited manufacturers abroad that are members of the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA). This ensures all the rides are safe to the public, company officials said.

It is also home to Snow World, Visayas’ first winter attraction with new ice carvings and snow machine. It is the first one outside Metro Manila.

Other major attractions at the park include the Anjo Eye, a 200-foot ferris wheel with 32 airconditioned gondolas; and first of its kind in the country, an Egyptian-themed spinning coaster The Pharaoh.

Other attractions are the Bumper Boats, the Funtastic Arena and its very own restaurant Caffe Colosseo which offers Italian and Western dishes with a Cebuano twist.

“Our rides are brand new, well maintained and are safe. Computers are in place in most of our rides to ensure safety of our guests. Our safety team is at par with international standards to ensure safety,” said Cedric Reyes, head of sales and marketing.

Aside from the new rides, visitors can continue enjoying the rest of Anjo World’s rides which have been available since late last year including the 25-meter Tower Drop, Boomerang (Frisbee), Hip Hip (Go Go Bouncer), Space Shuttle and the Viking.

There are also family and kiddie rides like the Mr. Cup, Mr. Toad, London Taxi (Bumper Cars) and the Golden Carousel.

Reyes said the amusement facility can accommodate as much as 5,000 people every day. (CSL)
