5 nabbed in separate anti-drug stings

POLICE operatives have arrested five drug personalities and seized some P74,500 worth of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) in separate anti-drug operations in the region.

Police Major Helen Galvez, Police Regional Office-Zamboanga Peninsula information officer, identified the arrested suspects as the following: Joseph Ramos, 37, a parking attendant; Nelson Jambon, 29, a drug surrenderer; Arnaser Alejo, 43, newly identified drug pusher; Alih Jakaria, 36; and John Carmel Ajero, 26, a drug watch listed personality.

Galvez said Ramos was arrested in drug bust around 5:30 a.m. Sunday in Camino Nuevo Village, Zamboanga City. Seized from him were some P10,000 worth of suspected shabu packed in five heat-sealed plastic sachets and P200 marked money.

She said seized from the possessions of Jambon, Alejo, and Jakaria were some P4,500 worth of suspected shabu when they were arrested in a drug bust around 9:30 a.m. Sunday at Purok 6 in Diki Village, Isabela City, Basilan.

The police officer said recovered from the three were P500 marked money and several illegal drug paraphernalia.

She said Alejo was arrested in possession of some P60,000 worth of suspected shabu and P500 marked money in a drug bust around 9:50 p.m. Sunday at Purok Sakayanon in Miputak Village, Dipolog City, Zamboanga del Norte.

Galvez added that formal charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 are set to be file against the suspects. (SunStar Zamboanga)
