PAL, AirAsia suspend flights due to Typhoon 'Tisoy'

SEVERAL flights to and from Davao City have been cancelled due to Typhoon Tisoy.

As of 8 a.m. Monday, December 2, the Philippine Airlines (PAL) cancelled two flights -- the PR 2378 from Davao to Siargao and the PR 2379 from Siargao to Davao.

AirAsia, as of 3:45 p.m. Monday, also cancelled seven flights from Davao to Manila and vice versa for December 3, 2019. These are the Z20613 (Manila to Davao), Z20614 (Davao to Manila), Z20615 (Manila to Davao), Z20616 (Davao to Manila), Z2 625 (Manila to Davao), Z20612 (Davao to Manila), Z20621 (Manila to Davao).

Cebu Pacific Air has not cancelled any flights to and from Davao as of this writing.

PAL encouraged passengers with cancelled flights to avail themselves of their rebooking or rerouting services.

"You have the option to rebook on the flight of your choice within 30 days from original travel date with rebooking service fees waived. You also have the option to reroute or refund your ticket cost," the advisory read.

For AirAsia passengers, they can either change their flight date on the same route within 30 calendar days from the original flight time without additional cost, retain the value of their fare in their AirAsia BIG Loyalty account for future travel, or obtain a full refund in the amount equivalent to their booking in the form of original payment.

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said that as of 2 p.m. Monday, Typhoon Tisoy was approaching Northern Samar, Albay, and Sorsogon area.

In Mindanao, storm signal number 1 has been raised in Dinagat Islands and Siargao Island. Residents in these areas were warned against winds of 30 to 60 kilometers per hour or intermittent rains.
