SWU-Phinma Cobras to test mettle in Kibawe Mayor’s Cup

THE Southwestern University-Phinma Cobras will be looking to continue their string of success this year when they compete against three other formidable squads in the 1st Mayor’s Cup Invitational Basketball Tournament, which starts on Wednesday, December 4, 2019, in Kibawe, Bukidnon.

A huge cash prize of P100,000 awaits the champion squad, while the runner-up will bag P70,000. The third placer will take home P50,000. The fourth and fifth place teams will get P30,000 and P25,000, respectively.

The Cobras, which would be representing Maramag in this tournament, is fresh off winning the championship in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. (Ceaafi) after it beat the erstwhile three-time champions University of the Visayas Green Lancers.

In Kibawe though, SWU-Phinma will face some tough opposition from the likes of Damulog, XY Builders-TCC, Dangcagan, which would be represented by a team from Cagayan de Oro and JT Gamolo Hotel de Susana.

JT Gamolo Hotel de Susana will be bannered by ex-pros Jeric Teng and Josan Nimes.

Pasig will be bannered by ex-pros Jeric Teng and Josan Nimes.

The tournament is made possible by the efforts of Kibawe mayor, Reynaldo Rabanes, tournament commissioner Risalito Panis and municipal sports coordinator, Rey Elaco. (JNP)
