BIT International College draws first blood vs PMI in BSAA hoops finals

THE BIT International College edged the PMI Colleges, 95-92, to take a step closer to capturing the title in the Seniors division of the Bohol Schools Athletic Association (BSAA) Season 9 basketball tournament held at the Barder Gym in Tagbilaran City last Sunday, December 1, 2019.

Mark Jay Bual exploded for 30 points, while Clifford Marsamolo added 20 markers, five rebounds, two steals and two blocked shots for BIT IC, which now holds a 1-0 lead in this best-of-three affair. BIT IC can claim the title with a win in Game Two on Saturday.

In the Juniors division, the University of Bohol crushed the GreAtMinds Leadership Academy (GLA), 110-59. After leading by 10, 44-34, at halftime, UB turned their game up to another level and torched GLA, 31-14, in the third to build a huge lead heading to the final canto.

Horrace Morata had himself quite the game as he tallied 31 points, five assists and three steals to push UB to the series-opening victory. Edwin Yap also played a key role in helping UB get the win as he produced 24 markers.

Meanwhile, in the 14-under division, GLA atoned for their older counterpart’s loss with a 93-53 bashing of the Dr. Cecilio Putong National High School in Game 1 of the finals. Nyko Pon led GLA to the impressive win with 30 points.

GLA also took Game 1 of the 12-under finals with a 56-41 win over UB. Gumer Maghuyop paved the way for GLA to get the win as he had 15 points, six rebounds, three blocks and two steals. (JNP)
