Pampanga PWDs get P7.2M educational assistance

LUBAO -- Some 2,886 persons with disabilities (PWDs) received educational assistance amounting to P7,215,000 million from Governor Dennis Pineda recently.

Each of the recipients took home some P2,500.

Pineda, in his message, asked the youth to finish their studies despite the challenges they face.

In a report of the Provincial Information Office (PIO), Persons with Disabilities Affairs Officer Mary Ann Zamora said the PWDs who qualified for the educational assistance must have presented their PWD identification card, general intakeship, certificate of enrollment, and student ID to get their cash.

The governor was assisted during the distribution by Committee Chairperson for PWDs and Senior Citizens Board Member Nelson Calara, Board Member Olga Frances David Dizon, Board Member Pol Balingit, Board Member Cherry Manalo, and Board Member Benjamin Jocson, among others.

Aside from educational assistance, Pineda assured them of the full support of the Capitol in boosting health care services for all Kapampangans.

He also discussed Capitol's new health program called "Alagang Nanay" to continue the legacy of her mother in helping the sick and the needy in the province, said the PIO.

He said through the program, PWDs are eligible to receive hospital services without paying professional fees or hospital bills in the 11 district hospitals around the province.

The "Alagang Nanay" health care program covers nine cases for operation: goiter, hernia, breast mastitis, prostate, kidney and gall stones, myoma, polyps, and ovarian cysts.
