CAMP OLIVAS -- A total of 25,000 participants of the 17th National Jamboree of the Boy Scouts of the Philippines in Botolan, Zambales were evacuated to safer grounds due to Typhoon Tisoy.
Authorities said the participants were evacuated to several school buildings and covered courts in the towns of Botolan and Cabangan.
Authorities said the organizers started the evacuation, wherein the participants boarded several dump trucks provided by the Department of Public Works and Highways and from the Provincial Government.
The boy scouts came from different provinces in the country.
The jamboree started last Sunday, December 1, as the typhoon was still gearing West Pacific until it started to rain Monday, December 2, at the campsite.
Reports noted that during the two days of camping, participants encountered several problems like lack of comfort rooms and inadequate water supply for local use and drinking. (Ric Sapnu)
