Malasakit Center now mandated in every government hospital

PRESIDENT Rodrigo Duterte on Tuesday night, December 3, signed into law a measure establishing a Malasakit Center in all hospitals run by the Department of Health (DOH) nationwide.

Duterte signed Republic Act 11463 or the Malasakit Center Act during a ceremonial signing at MalacaƱan Palace.

Palace, however, has yet to release a copy of the law.

Under RA 11463, a Malasakit Center serves as one-stop for fast access to financial aid for health care services.

Malasakit Centers, however, do not provide for additional funds for assistance since concerned government agencies implement their own medical and financial assistance.

To date, there are over 50 Malasakit Centers nationwide, serving more than 200,000 patients monthly. (NASE/SunStar Philippines)
