Pava holds forum on voluntary arbitration

THE Philippine Association on Voluntary Arbitration (Pava) Inc. initiated a forum on Nov. 30-Dec. 1, 2019 at Quest Hotel in Cebu City.

The event, titled “The Journey Towards Industrial Harmony Through Voluntary Arbitration,” was held in coordination with the Association of Accredited Voluntary Arbitrators of Central Visayas Inc., National Conciliation and Mediation Board and Association of Industrial Peace Advocates Inc.

Organizers aimed to provide a learning experience for Pava’s social partners—labor, management and government representatives—through these activities: continuing education/learning sessions on labor relations, fellowship and team enhancement undertaking.

The main resource person during the learning session was lawyer Josephus B. Jimenez, executive vice president of Pava. Jimenez is a worker’s rights champion and sought-after voluntary arbitrator.

Another respected lecturer, writer and consultant Jovenir F. Bataican talked about “Emphatic Workplace Communication in the Digital Age.”

Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama brought the event to the city. He is the current Pava president (2018-2020).

The objective of the activity was to harness educational awareness on labor relations and espouse the essence of tripartite unity and people privately driven governance.
