CEBU City Mayor Edgardo Labella confirmed that he will be firing all job orders and casual employees in City Hall who tested positive during the drug tests conducted by the Cebu City Office for Substance Abuse Prevention (Cosap).
To date, there are already 42 City Hall employees who tested positive for illegal drug use.
Labella said one employee assigned in his office was one of those who were found positive and he is set to fire that employee.
“If you use drugs, you’re out of the office,” he added.
The City Legal Office recently rendered its legal opinion to terminate the 13 job orders and casual employees who tested positive.
Labella has directed the Human Resource Development Office to issue notice of termination to the said employees.
The Cosap started its series of drug tests last November 8, 2019. (SunStar Cebu)
