CANCER is no stranger to me, with so many of my family members lost in the battle, and struggling with the disease. I remember I lost my Mom and Ate in less than a year apart, some three years ago. Yet the disease taught me about perseverance and hope that one day, no one will get to be in pain and suffer the way my loved ones did. The opportunity to work side by side with talented, selfless suppliers and talents coming together for the fight against cancer is such a beacon of hope.

The Waterfront Insular Hotel Davao, in partnership with The House of Hope Foundation for Kids with Cancer Inc. and Muzic's Kool Inc., staged a charity Christmas musical dinner, titled "Hope: The Heart of Christmas," last November 26, 2019, featuring performances from Davao's home-grown talents like Davao's Premier Vocal Group P Square, Zalia, Gem Cache Band, Song Spell Philippines Inc. and Muzic's Kool Voice Kids.

Now on its 12th year of partnership, The House of Hope and Waterfront Insular Hotel started this annual fundraising dinner for cause to give children with cancer a Christmas to remember. The kids sang a special song with their musical director Jeremy Sarmiento. Traditional Christmas Carols filled the air with songs like Holy Night, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, Underneath the Tree, its Christmas All over the World, and We Are the Reason, among others. The charity is not only about raising funds for treatment but awareness about cancer.

The night did make the child's holiday one of the most magical and special that they've ever experienced. Somehow the spirit of true Christmas spirit freely flows from the hearts of those who willingly extended their help to the children.
