Dela Peña, Cuambot rule 3rd BCTLC rapid chess

REGINALD dela Peña and Jecuambs Cuambot came out with their best performances over the weekend when they ruled the Open Below 2060 NCFP Rating and Mixed 11 & Under Boys and Girls divisions, respectively, of the Bacolod Chess Training and Learning Center-organized 3rd Rapid Chess Championship, played at the City Mall-Mandalagan in Bacolod City.

Seeded No. (SN) 25 dela Peña scored a 6.5 points to top other contenders in the Open Below 2060 division as (SN 5) Saipuding Ambol, (SN 13) Jeshua Abram Solquillo and (SN 17) Jomar Funoan finished with 6 points each to settle for the second, third and fourth places, respectively. Meanwhile, (SN 9) Theseus Benitez, (SN 63) Herbert Ciocon, (SN71) Sammy Labrador, and (SN 20) Andador Lyster Franz tallied 5.5 points apiece to finish fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth places, respectively, while (SN 54) Modesvito Acero and (SN 7) Douglas Diego Perez got 5 points each for the 9th and 10th places.

Awarded as the top youngest male and female are Einre Mar Abancoa (U12)and Aera Kerl Charm Sinining (U16).

On the other hand, top seed Cuambot dominated the Mixed 11 & Under Boys and Girls category with a solid 7 points as (SN 123) Kristel Love Neites rose from the rank with 6 points/34BH to settle for 2nd place as (SN 64) Jacob Troi Canastillo, (SN 2) Mark Alfonso Azaola, (SN 160) Jamie Lee Valencia, (SN 5) John Paul Navarra and (SN 19) Irimar Ortega Jr. Finished 3rd to 7th places. Finally, (SN 12) Alex Merine Espinosa, (SN 136) Mikhail Pawliczek, and (SN 6) Precious Jewel Dolar ended 8th to 10th places.

Meanwhile, awarded as the youngest top boy and girl players in the division are Jevaughn Raej Jance Jacobo (8 y.o.) and Ellaine Summer Abanco (U8), who finished 12th and 14th places, respectively.

Spearheaded the tournament is Dante Albao and Leo Romitman.
