Davao police given tactical gear

THE Police Regional Office (PRO)-Davao turned over new tactical gear to different police units in the region Wednesday morning, December 4.

The new equipment are seen to boost the operational capability of the police force. The turnover was held at PRO-Davao Grandstand Camp Sergeant Quintin M. Merecido, Buhangin, Davao City on Wednesday morning.

The equipment include two units of rotary blade/ propelled wing, unmanned aerial vehicle; one unit of Hino truck, 18 units of XRM Honda motorcycle; 644 units of enhanced combat helmet (Level 3); 195 units of undershirt vest; 168 units of tactical vest (Level 3-A) with two upgraded plates (Level 4); and five units of 5.56 Negev LMG Squad Automatic Weapon (SAW).

Also given were 126 units pistol TISAS Striker Fired; 6,300 RDS CTG Ball Cal .9mm (Magtech); 15,000 RDS CTG Ball Cal .9mm (Magtech); 460 pieces magazine for M16 (long); 408 pieces magazine for M14; and 60 pieces field investigators crime scene kit which will support the uniformed personnel in their field operations.

The newly-acquired equipment came from the Philippine National Police (PNP) headquarters and will benefit the different police units including the Davao City Police Office (DCPO), Davao del Norte Police Provincial Office (DNPPO), Davao Oriental PPO, Compostela Valley PPO, Davao del Sur PPO, and Davao Occidental PPO.

PRO-Davao Director Police Brigadier General, meanwhile, reminded the units that have received the new equipment to take care of it. He likewise thanked President Rodrigo Duterte for providing this newly-procured equipment.

"This equipment will [not only] enhance the capability of the Philippine National Police but it will also protect them from the threat from different threat groups," Escobal said.

"These equipment are tools of our policemen to protect the Filipino people from the people who are causing harm to the communities," he added.
