TIMOR Leste is left as the only country without a medal midway into the 30th Southeast Asian Games.

Filipinos have showed their support to Timor Leste online as the netizens hope for the latter’s first medal with the hashtag #TimorLeste going viral.

Timor Leste has yet to win a single medal since the SEA Games fired off on Nov. 30, 2019.

Timor Leste is thankful for the sportsmanship gesture and hospitality shown by the Filipinos.

“The hospitality has been amazing. Everyone has been great to us,” said taekwondo athlete Jennifer Lay.

Some of the athletes and officials from Timor Leste are billeted for free at the Philippine Sports Athletes’ Dormitory in Pasig City.

The host country Philippines leads the overall medal tally with 56 golds, 41 silvers and 22 bronzes as of Thursday morning. (SunStar Cebu)
