Pangan: A good brand of public service

THE Social Security System Marquee Mall branch is dishing out exemplary public service, especially old callers who are mostly pensioners.

These pensioners call on this branch for their various needs: funeral, medical, ACOP or annual confirmation of pensions and the newly-launched PLP or pension loan program.

I availed myself of the pension loan program and, as advertised, I encountered no hassles. Initially entertained by Joselito Dizon, I was later referred to Sam at counter 12 for my loan application.

Sam went through my papers, verified my eligibility, and made me accomplish a request for change of address, from Dau to my present residence at Tabun.

After ascertaining I had no previous loan with the agency, I was made to sign the application paper and after cross- checking it at the computer, Sam told me that I can get the proceeds of my loan after seven days or on December 4, 2019 from November 25, 2019, the date when I finally filed the loan application.

Such was the pleasant experience I had with the Marquee Mall branch of the Social Security System: from the attentive guard at the entrance door to the courteous clerks at the counters: Sam and Barbz.

Pensioners who are weak and restive are not made to wait too long, as they were given numbers to be called in succession. I did not hear any complaint from among them at all.

I am not aware if the branch or the whole system has an ISO certification but from the way work is accomplished very well, it deserves one.

The head of the Social Security System Marquee Mall branch is Ms. Normita Cruz and she must have imparted good traits to her staff who are courteous and attentive to their callers/clients.

The system is smooth and hassle-free which should be replicated by other government agencies. The staff acts with dispatch and in perfect coordination. Never a dull moment at the branch as the solicitous guards follow up the callers’ needs and made sure they had complete documents.

Encroaching on, and gobbling over water districts. Already, Prime Water has taken the operations and management of Zamboanga, Guagua, San Pablo, Iloilo, San Fernando (Pampanga) and Mabalacat water districts and is poised to acquire more like the Angeles City Water District. But the latter’s general manager, engineer Reynaldo Liwanag, vehemently denies any manifestation yet by, and, from the influential Villar-led firm. The ACWD presently is financially sound and has a solid and reputable management as to surrender its operations and management functions to this giant of a venture.

In a Philippine Daily Inquirer column dated November 25, 2019 entitled Local Water: the new battleground, Segundo Eclar Romero spelled out the schemes of the Villar-led firm as it manifests interest to take over the operations and management of more several water districts in the country. Abangan.
