A MAGNITUDE 5.6 earthquake shook some parts of Mindanao Thursday evening, December 5, but no damage is expected, state seismologists said.
The tremor struck at 8:24 p.m. 169 kilometers southeast of Jose Abad Santos in Davao Occidental.
It was tectonic, with a depth of 54 kilometers, said the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).
The quake was felt at intensity 3 in Glan, Malapatan and Alabel, Sarangani; and intensity 2 in General Santos City, Koronadal City and Tampakan in South Cotabato.
It was also felt at instrumental intensity 4 in Malungon, Sarangani; instrumental intensty 2 in General Santos City, Tupi in South Cotabato, and Kiamba in Sarangani; and instrumental intensity 1 in Gingoog City.
