Council commends couple who won gold medals in SEA Games



THE Bacolod City Council approved a resolution expressing their congratulations to Michael Angelo Marquez, Bacolodnon, and his wife Stephanie Sabalo, who won two gold medals and a silver medal in the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games dancesports competition held in Clark, Pampanga on December 1.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Simplicia Distrito, was approved during the regular session on Wednesday, December 4.

Distrito said that Michael Angelo Marquez is the son of Bacolodnons, Michael and Jossette Marquez of Barangay 14, Bacolod City.

She said the couple competed in the 2019 SEA Games Dance Sports Competition particularly in the Pasadoble, All Five Dances, and Jive Events.

The couple won gold medals in Pasadoble and in All Five Dances events while bagging the silver medal in Jive.

“Their amazing efforts in the said events are remarkable not only that it captivated the eyes of the judges and the audience but it also bolstered the medal tally of the Philippines at the onset of the competition,” Distrito said.

She said the august body is very proud of the victory of Michael Angelo and Stephanie Sabalo since it paid off their hardwork and dedication in order to give glory to our country. (MAP)
