THE state-run Social Security System (SSS) said on Friday, December 6, that its thru-the-bank pensioners who availed the advance 18 months pension will receive their 13th month pension starting December 10, 2019.
SSS President and Chief Executive Officer Aurora C. Ignacio said the releases are part of the P12.71 billion 13th month pension disbursements to over 2.83 million SSS pensioners this year.
“As of 5 December, 45 of our 62 partner banks have already credited the 13th month pension to the bank accounts of our regular pensioners wherein the earliest recorded was on November 18,” Ignacio said.
“Today, we are expecting the remaining 17 banks to credit the said benefit,” she added.
Meanwhile, the 13th month pension of more than 14,000 pensioners paid thru-checks were already released to the postal office last November 26, 2019.
The SSS has also sent a letter to the Postmaster General to expedite the delivery of the said pension.
“We are happy to provide an additional financial resource during this holiday season to our pensioners who during their working years have contributed to the success of the pension fund,” Ignacio said.
The SSS started granting 13th-month pensions in 1988 to enhance its pensioners’ benefits. (PR)
