Drug shipment bound for Bacolod intercepted in NAIA

A SHIPMENT of suspected “shabu” (methamphetamine hydrochloride) bound for Bacolod City was reportedly intercepted by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Metro Manila earlier this week.

PDEA-Western Visayas director Alex Tablate said a bag of suspected shabu which weighs around 205 grams was supposed to be sent to a mall in Bacolod City, where it was to be picked up.

Tablate said the bag of suspected shabu was hidden in a box among chocolates and other grocery items, and the package’s point of origin was from the city of Santa Rosa in Laguna.

The PDEA regional head also confirmed that the package has a name of an individual from Bacolod City, although he has requested that the individual not to be named in the meantime.

PDEA agents are now alerted to the latest modus of smuggling drugs into the region and has since stepped up in their ports and terminal monitoring.
