A PHOENIX rising.

The Philippines' Gazini Ganados set the stage on fire as she showcased class, elegance and nationalism during the preliminary competition of Miss Universe 2019 held at Atlanta, Georgia on Friday, December 6, 2019 (Saturday, December 7, Philippine time).

Filipino fans from around the world proudly waved the nation's colors as they cheered for Ganados.

The 23-year-old Cebuana beauty confidently introduced herself and her country wearing a pink satin gown designed by Sherri Hill.

The crowd went wild when she showed off her toned body in a black floral bikini, strutting the runway with her signature "Phoenix Walk" during the swimsuit competition.

During the evening gown round, the Cebuana beauty dazzled onstage wearing a glowing gold gown designed by Cebu-based couturier Cary Santiago.

Ganados was an eye magnet when she walked the runway wearing a silver gown with wings for her national costume. Inspired by the Philippine eagle, the ensemble was complemented by two bedazzled figures of the bird on her shoulders. The intricately designed costume was also a Santiago creation.

Ganados aims to have a back-to-back win for the Philippines after the success of Catriona Gray during the Miss Universe 2018 competition.

If Ganaods wins, it will be the Philippines' fifth Miss Universe crown. (RSR)
