Tips on spending a ‘productive’ Christmas break

JUST like that, Christmas 2019 has arrived.

For most people, Christmas break can be the best thing in the world. Just think: 14 hours of undisturbed slumber, and then waking up to the tangy aroma of lechon paksiw! You drag yourself to the kitchen and serve yourself a cup of steaming hot rice and a plate of that perfectly tender left-over lechon cooked in vinegar, sugar and garlic. After eating every bit of food on your plate, you lazily head off to the living room and watch whatever’s good on TV. Ah. The good life.

However, lazying around can be antagonizing. So what are some things to do for a productive Christmas break instead?

Catch up on chores

Take a good look around the house—or room to begin with. There might be quite a lot of things to do after all! Clean out the closet, organize and segregate things that are best to keep and best to donate. Take out the gray shoes and brush them with baking soda ‘til they’re sparkling white again!

Try out something new

Whether it’s something as adventurous as free diving or as peaceful as yoga, try to do something that you’re interested in. If you’re too shy to start it, just remember that you’re only young once and you won’t lose anything by trying.

Spend quality time with friends and family

With all the hustle and bustle these past few months, Christmas break might be the best time to spend quality time with your loved ones. Some go home to their respective provinces and cities to spend a merry Christmas with their families. Some meet up with friends as most of them are off from work.

Travel

Indeed, there is no Christmas like one spent at home but it is just as a memorable and wonderful to have an adventure and spend the holidays in a different place or country. Reward yourself by ticking off a country off of your bucket list and simply enjoy your time.

Unplug from work

It may bring some sort of uneasiness for people who love to work, but it’s important to take a step back and just relax. Allow yourself to take a break from work. Drive to the mountains or take a dip at the beach. Mute all notifications and just be free.

Enjoy yourself

All of the suggestions mentioned above would mean nothing if you don’t enjoy yourself. So whether you do anything or nothing at all, just make sure to put yourself first and to enjoy the break!
