Bacolodnon SEA Games athletes to get incentives

BACOLOD City Lone District Representative Greg Gasataya will give incentives for the athletes who are from Bacolod City that joined in the 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games.

Gasataya yesterday said it’s the pride and honor of the city that there were Bacolodnons who participated in SEA Games and representing the country.

He said he will check the list and by January he will give incentives for all the athletes who are from Bacolod City.

“I congratulate all the winners who represented our country in SEA Games,” he added.

Last week, the Bacolod City Council also approved a resolution expressing their congratulations to Michael Angelo Marquez, Bacolodnon, and his wife Stephanie Sabalo, who won two gold medals and a silver medal in the SEA Games dancesports competition held in Clark, Pampanga on December 1.

The resolution, authored by Councilor Simplicia Distrito, was approved during the regular session on Wednesday, December 4.

Distrito said that Michael Angelo Marquez is the son of Bacolodnons’ Michael and Jossette Marquez of Barangay 14, Bacolod City.

She said the couple competed in the 2019 SEA Games Dance Sports Competition particularly in the Pasadoble, All Five Dances, and Jive Events.

The couple won gold medals in Pasadoble and in All Five Dances events while bagging the silver medal in Jive.

Meanwhile, Gasataya said that he’s also in favor that the House of Representatives will raise P10 million from their January 2020 salaries.

He said they will raise P10 million cash reward for Filipino gold medalists in the 30th SEA Games.

“We should honor our athletes because we have good performances in SEA Games,” he added.
