'Operative' killed in drug bust not a PDEA agent

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Luzon clarified Monday that the alleged operative killed in a drug bust in Barangay Gayagaya, City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan last Sunday is not in the PDEA roster of agents.

In its official statement sent to SunStar Pampanga, PDEA-Central Luzon Information Officer Glenn Guillermo said Jayvee Ancho Dineros, who was killed in a firefight with police, is not in any way connected to PDEA.

"Please be informed that Mr. Jayvee Ancho Dineros is NOT a PDEA agent nor in any manner connected to PDEA Regional Office III. Upon validation and as per records at PDEA National Headquarters, Mr. Dineros is NOT included in PDEA official rosters," Guillermo said in the disclaimer.

In a SunStar Pampanga report published Monday, December 9, Police Regional Office-Central Luzon Deputy Director for Operations Colonel Rhoderick Armamento identified the fatalities in the firefight as Jayvee Ancho Dineros, who was cited as an agent of PDEA and was listed in the drug watchlist of the Philippine National Police, and one Jun, his alleged cohort.

Armamento said in the report, the Bulacan Drugs Enforcement Unit and City of San Jose Del Monte police operatives conducted drug bust against the suspects.

He said after the suspects handed over a sachet of shabu through a prearranged signal, the backup policemen came closer.

Sensing that they were dealing with undercover police officer, the suspects drew their guns and fired towards the operatives.

The operatives retaliated and an exchange of shots ensued that resulted to the killing of the suspects, Armamento said.

Recovered from the duo were a caliber .38 revolver, an improvised shotgun and a motorcycle. (Ric Sapnu)
