Breaking bread with media friends when the holiday season is at hand has become a yearly ritual for Globe’s senior vice president-corporate communications Yoly Crisanto and Patrick Gloria, director-external affairs for VisMin. This time around the lunch affair was held at Circa 1900. As always it was fun time with games and raffle prizes.

An accomplished 87-year-old, Zelia Borromeo was honored with a birthday dinner at the Montebello Villa Hotel by her loved ones led by sis-in-law Norma and nephew Fabby Borromeo. Wellwishers included relatives and friends from Zonta and Ikebana, the organizations that she has been very much involved in all these years.

Oling Villamor didn’t look her 80 years as she flitted from table to table during her birthday dinner at the poolside of Circa 1900. With devoted hubby Dodong V by her side and their four children (Marisse, Carla, Jonas and Perry) and their families dancing attendance on her, she was the picture of fulfillment and bliss.

It was a celebration of life and love (with its trials and triumphs) for Ryan Villaflores when he marked his birthday with a delightful dinner party at his all-white home fondly called Magnolia. Loving family and treasured friends all trooped to his seaside manse in Amara, Liloan, to celebrate with him. Yes, it was a gathering of those near and dear.

Dubbed the Chocolate Queen of Cebu, Raquel Choa is actually more of a Cacao Ambassador. Yes, she is passionate about highlighting the wonders of pure cacao—its heady aroma, its nutty/chocolatey taste, its other uses aside from the usual tableya drink and yummy chocolates. Over merienda at The Chocolate Chamber in Robinsons Galleria, she showed us how shavings of her bola de cacao can be used as a food enhancer over salads, pizzas and more. And she gave us a taste of the different tableya drinks she has developed with daughter Hannah.
