Pasaporte to succeed Arevalo as Negros Army commander

COLONEL Inocencio Pasaporte will succeed Brigadier General Benedict Arevalo as the new commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade of the Philippine Army based in Barangay Minoyan, Murcia.

Pasaporte is currently the 303rd Infantry Brigade deputy commander.

Arevalo will be assigned to the Philippine Army headquarters as deputyc chief of staff for Education and Training, J8.

The turnover of command is set on December 12 at 10 a.m. at the headquarters of the 303rd Brigade, Camp Major Nelson Gerona, Barangay Minoyan, Murcia.

Brigadier General Eric Vinoya, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division of the Philippine Army, will be the presiding officer during the change of command.

Arevalo said among the accomplishments he has during his more than a year tenure in the province, the Army was able to weaken the New People's Army rebels.

"We're not saying that they are gone but they have dramatically weakened for the last one year in terms of arms capability and mass base support," Arevalo said.

During his tenure to the province, the Army was able to engage 28 encounters against the rebels.

"Majority of those encounters were in our favor," Arevalo added.
