Cabahug wins MVP in Division B

PROLIFIC wingman Elddie Cabahug of the 2005-Bizol garnered the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of Division B during the awarding ceremonies of the 2019 Sacred Heart Ateneo Alumni Basketball Athletic Association (Shaabaa) Cebu Landmasters Cup at the Veranda on Wednesday night, Dec. 11, 2019.

Cabahug, the son of Cebuano hoops legend Elmer Cabahug, was simply spectacular all season long with averages of 33 points, seven rebounds, two assists and a steal.

The Finals MVP in Division B however, went to Ervin Lopena of Batch 2004 who had 19 points, 11 rebounds and four assists per game in their run to the championship.

Cabahug also earned a spot in the Mythical Five along with 2004’s Lopena and Franco Te, and 2000-Core Pacific’s Dave Ting and Serg Go Bui.

Meanwhile, in Division A, the regular season MVP award went to 1999-AutoLAB’s Robert Gilo, who normed 21 points and 15 rebounds. However, the Finals MVP was awarded to former pro Joel Co of the 1990-Bayfront Hotel, who averaged 21 points, seven rebounds and three assists in their finals conquest.

Co was joined on the Division A Mythical Five by his teammate Dave Lim, 1999’s Gilo and Jeremy Huang, and 1996’s Junie Alejandro.

Finally, in Division C, the regular season MVP plum was given to Patrick Go of 2012-Pioneer Auto Supply after putting up 12 points, six rebounds and four assists per game. The Finals MVP award was then awarded to his teammate, Julius Cadavis, who was a monster in the finals, with averages of 18 points, 12 boards, five assists and two blocks.

The Division C Mythical Five was composed of Go, Cadavis, Anton Chua and 2013’s Arc Gabrielle Araw-Araw and Rendell Senining. (JNP)
