CAGAYAN de Oro booters proved their worth in Secondary and Elementary football matches of the ongoing Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) Regional Meet in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

The Secondary boys team of coach Marc Racines scored two wins when they whipped Malaybalay City of Bukidnon 5-0, and then advanced to the semis with another 4-0 shutout of Ozamiz City at the Mindanao Civic Center (MCC) soccer field.

Not to be outdone, the Elementary boys team of coach Rowen Clemena also sizzled with murderous thrashing of Ozamiz City, 13-0 over at the Lanao del Norte Central High School pitch in Baroy town.

The secondary boys are already through the semis even before the opening ceremony of the week-long meet on Sunday, December 8.

Inspite of their 13-0 win over Ozamiz City, the elementary boys are still in danger of missing the semis in Group A if they lose to Bukidnon as there are only three of them in their group and only one team can advance to the semis.

Teams in Group B are Misamis Occidental, Oroqueta City, and Tangub City, while in Group C teams are Ginggoog, Valencia, and Iligan. Misamis Oriental, Malaybalay and Lanao del Norte are in Group D.

However, coach Rowen Clemena is confident that they could breeze past Bukidnon, whose lineup consists of champion players in Davao's Mindanao Cup and the Luzon Cup in Tarlac last month.

"Kaya ra ang Bukidnon (We can handle Bukidnon)," said Clemena.
