BILLED as grudge rematch, the Assumption Montessori School (AMS) Jaguars got back at last season tormentor Southern de Oro Philippines College (SPC) Jr. Sharks via a runaway 94-73 victory in the 2019 National Basketball Training (NBTC)-Cagayan de Oro final on Sunday at the Nazareth gym, Cagayan de Oro City.
In their last title showdown, the SPC Sharks crushed the AMS Jaguars' pride with a 22-point victory.
This time, coach James Racines and Jaguars came well-prepared and armed to the teeth to completely dominate coach Dangcal and his SPC Sharks.
The Jaguars unleashed an 18-5 run with their 3-point bombs to take a 17-point first quarter lead, 29-12 that even padded to 21 in the second quarter.
They slowed down a bit in the final half but still managed to go ahead by 12.
"They relaxed and played individually that's why I called a timeout to put order in our game," coach Racines said.
The season's most outstanding player Jay-Ar Rivera finished with 18 points for AMS, while Alec Genoso, Gary Antigua and Angelu Mercado added 12, 11 and 10 markers each.
