Codification of La Trinidad ordinances pressed

ONE document that would cover all the past and present ordinances is being pushed in Benguet capital town of La Trinidad.

Vice Mayor Roderick Awingan in his presentation on Tuesday, December 10, said the codification, when finally adopted by the Municipal Council embodies all past and present ordinances of the local government unit and therefore be a repository rules and regulations institutionalizing local legislation for their proper enforcement.

Codification is the process of collecting, classifying, revising and supplementing the ordinances of a local government unit.

“Per sector, we would codify old ordinances, existing and other supplemental. This code will be one document that would cover all the needs of the present time,” Awingan added.

To date there are two code passed by the lawmakers including the La Trinidad Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Code and Environment Code while on second reading is the Local Investment Incentive Code.

On first reading are: Senior Citizen Code, Traffic Management Code, Strawberry Valley Hotel Operations Management Code, Public Market Management and Operations Code, La Trinidad Agriculture Sustainable Development and Management Code, Tourism, Culture and Arts Sustainable Management Code, La Trinidad Human Resource Development and Management Code, Revised La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post Management Code, Youth and Children’s Welfare Development and Protection Code, Cooperative Development Code among others.

The official added the municipal council aims to accomplish at least 90 percent of all the legislative support under its Executive Legislative Agenda after 2020.
