Lani Misalucha inks contract with Star Music

LANI Misalucha, who is also known as Asia’s Nightingale, inked a recording contract with Star Music, the music arm of ABS-CBN last Dec. 10.

Present during the contract signing were Jonathan Manalo, creative director of Star Music, and Roxy Liquigan, head of the Kapamilya music arm.

The “semi-retired” entertainer shuttles between the Philippines and Las Vegas, USA where she is currently residing with her husband Noli Agustin who also acts as her manager.

In an intimate interview with some Manila-, Cebu- and Davao-based entertainment writers and bloggers, Lani divulged that the offshoot of the contract, “will be treated as an international release” since Star Music has already expanded internationally, which the two Star Music executives affirmed.

All the songs will be original songs including those written by Filipinos but these will all be in English to target a wider market.

The initial output of the project is the song “I Can’t Give Anymore,” which was recorded and produced in Los Angeles, California, and will be released on digital platforms on Jan. 31, 2020.

Lani described the song as “foreign sounding” and is a collaboration of three songwriters—a Filipino, an American and a Korean. The nightingale hopes to also reach out to the younger generation. She further hopes that the project will be the start of more endeavors under the Kapamilya banner including concerts with established artists like Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, Vice Ganda, Morissette, Jonah, Darren Espanto, KZ Tandingan, Yeng Constantino and Julie Anne San Jose, among others.
