2,107 Nanay volunteers get P8.4 million from Dole

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Some 2,107 Nanay Community Workers (NCW) received P8,428,000 from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

The funding allocation was under the Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.

Governor Dennis "Delta" Pineda personally led the distribution at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center.

Pampanga DOLE Chief Arlene Tolentino said that the program is aimed at providing the unemployed and displaced workers an emergency employment.

"They will be receiving a total of P4,000 in terms of salaries. Plus, we call it the personal protective equipment, which consist of the hat and the t-shirt na nagkakahalaga ng P350. Plus, ang beneficiaries natin ay ensured sa GSIS. So, all in all, the government will be spending a total of P4,400 for each beneficiary," Tolentino said.

Joining the governor during the distribution were Board Members Nelson Calara and Pol Balingit; Dra. Ana York Bondoc-Sagum, former 4th district congresswoman; Alex Inza Cruz of DOLE-3; Ma. Zenaida Campita, DOLE-3 director; Luningning Vergara, Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Manager; and Angelina Blanco, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office head.
