3 BIFF members surrender to military

THREE members of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) have surrendered due to pressures brought about by the continuous military operations in Central Mindanao area, officials said.

Lieutenant General Cirilito Sobejana, Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) chief, identified the BIFF surrenderers as Ustadz Yasser Saligan, Norudin Dalinding, and Omar Tatang all of the BIFF’s Karialan Faction.

Sobejana said the three have yielded an M-14 and Garand rifles with ammunition and two rounds of 81-millimeter mortar ammunition when they surrendered around 10 a.m. Wednesday to the Army’s 40th Infantry Battalion in the village of Tual, President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat.

“Our sustained campaigns in ending terrorism in our area of operations compel more terrorists to surrender and return to the mainstream society,” Sobejana said.

“I commend the troops of the Joint Task Force Central under Major General Carreon for their commitment and significant accomplishments during my incumbency as the commander of Westmincom,” he added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
