THE Provincial and City Governments of Cebu are set to revoke other land swap deals and will only focus on continuing negotiations on the controversial 93-1 lots.

Cebu Governor Gwendolyn Garcia met with representatives of the Cebu City Government on Monday morning, December 16, 2019, to discuss the land swap deal.

"We will mutually terminate the MOA (memorandum of agreement) and enter into a new MOA as regards to 93-1," Garcia said.

Former Cebu City mayor Tomas Osmeña and former governor, now Vice Governor Hilario Davide III, signed the Deed of Donation and Acceptance of the lots belonging to 93-1 on August 3, 2018.

In December 2016, Osmeña and Davide signed the MOA on the land swap deal between the City and the Province.

Based on the MOA, the Province will give the City 32 hectares of lots spread across several barangays, which are occupied mostly by urban poor settlers.

Garcia said they will focus on this and conduct a reappraisal as part of their move to execute a new MOA.

Other properties covered in the 2016 MOA will be returned to its original owners.

Garcia said their next meeting with City will be early next year to discuss reappraisal directions and the provisions of new MOA, among others. (SunStar Cebu)
