CELEBRATING Christmas means so much for the kids and families.

Most of us are completely delighted to see adorable and attractive Christmas trees, decors and other Christmassy setups that stir our modest joys and glees.

In Bacolod City, a Christmas town was built at JTL building, B.S. Aquino Drive in Barangay 7, just in front of the Redemptorist Church on December 15, 2019, by Mel Yanson-Rivero, her Dad Roy Yanson, Mom Susan and her DRRDC team and volunteers.

Mel said such an idea was motivated by their family's desire to share their blessings with other people especially the impoverished kids being reared at the Holy Infant Nursery Foundation, Inc. in Barangay Sum-ag, Bacolod City.

Mel, the managing director of the Del Rio Realty & Development of Bacolod and daughter of Roy Yanson, said, "Christmas town was conceptualized and built three weeks ago. We decided to bring it to Bacolod because we long for the traditional Christmas caroling. We wanted to bring in family entertainment. Christmas town is safe for the kids and a good place for families. We wanted to give our fellow an authentic Christmas experience as much as we can. We have Christmas houses, ginger red houses and the Santa Claus house that are all built by volunteers. We actually asked helped from barangay and they helped us in providing us with the volunteers for the stage, management, crowd control, medics, and everything. We are very thankful that they are giving us of their all-out support for this event."

She added, the event is for a cause to help the Holy Infant Orphanage, an institution which has been a recipient of the RSY family since she was little.

"Since my little Mutya days, I have been going to Holy Infant already. We believe that it starts from the roots, we would like to provide more for the kids this Christmas season," she added.

Local talents perform every night to bring in a unique Yuletide experience for everyone, she said.

Christmas Town opens at 2 p.m. every day until December 22, 2019.
