Bacolod police probe businessman slay

THE Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) already has a person of interest in the killing of the businessman at Purok Kasanag, Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City on Tuesday, December 3.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, spokesperson of BCPO, said Wednesday they already formed the joint investigation team led by the BCPO’s Investigation Detection Management Section (IDMS), Police Station 2, and Police Station 3 to give justice to the family of Ontao Sacar.

He said the investigation team already coordinated with the business establishments near the area to identify the perpetrators.

Sacar, 66, resident of Barangay Mandalagan, Bacolod City was abducted on Monday evening at Burgos Street, Barangay 8 and was found dead at Purok Kasanag, Barangay Mandalagan on Tuesday morning.

His head was covered with duct tape with a placard on his neck that read: “Wag Tularan Bigtime Pusher Ako.”

On the victim’s stomach, there was also a written word “I (a heart drawing) Drugs” with a smiley emoji.

The victim, a former president of Muslim Association Maranao Tribe, sustained gunshot wounds on his head.

Investigation showed at about 9:20 p.m. Monday, Sacar, who has a stall at 888 ChinaTown Mall, along with his common-law wife were walking along Burgos Street when three unidentified armed men wearing bonnet and onboard a red SUV stopped right beside them and forcibly abducted the victim and fled.

Pico said they are looking into involvement on illegal drugs, personal grudges or investment scam business as possible motives in the killing of the victim.

“We have the persons of interest who may shed light on the incident,” he said.

He added that Sacar was a former drug surrenderer in the area of Police Station 6 in 2018.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor El Cid Familiaran also urged the BCPO to exert more effort to solve the killing of the victim.

Familiaran said that they will wait for the result of the investigation.

“Our crime solution is very important to our public to gain their trust,” he said.

He added the BCPO should intensify their visibility patrol in various areas especially during night time. (MAP)
